SOIL PH Test DIY (With easy to find supplies)

LEARN - SHARE - GROW

Why is soil PH important and what role does it play??

Soil PH is absolutely fundamental in regards to plant uptake of nutrients. This is not only with chelation (salt) based nutrients like found in bottles but also with organic uptake of nutrients.

Many plants actually secrete enzymes that cause PH to change to specified levels for best possible uptake.

This is done via bacterial, and fungal symbiosis with the root system. Thus allowing for even better uptake.

When using Living soil PH's can fluctuate and change even in a given day, but this does not mean that we should not understand PH and it's effect on our plants. Using this knowledge we can understand the importance of PH and the role it plays in plant growth and uptake of nutrients.

We can also find buffers and sources that help stabilize the PH range so that plants can effect the PH as needed with less inhibition.

Some conditions effecting PH are:

Growing and Harvesting

Crop Rotation

Erosion

Leaching of minerals and other components

Some plants grow great in a wide PH range but many have a SWEET SPOT. We look for that sweet spot to maximize our soils capabilities. All Organic and Bottle Free

SOIL PH TEST
